If you own a pizzeria and are looking for a way to diversify your menu options without veering too far from your pizza focus, consider expanding into the dessert realm. Dessert pizzas are quite popular with customers and will help you bring in more revenue. These two dessert pizza recipes are sure to please your customers. Since both can be made with your standard pizza dough, the only additional ingredients you need to stock are the toppings.

Each of these recipes is for a single dessert pizza.

Apple Cinnamon Dessert Pizza

This pizza is sure to be popular in the fall. The cinnamon-sugar crust and sweet apples are a classic combination.

Ingredients:

  • 1 standard-sized ball of pizza dough (for a 12-inch pizza)
  • 1 cup apple pie filling
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Directions:

Stretch the pizza dough out into a 12-inch circle, and place it on a pizza pan. Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a bowl and stir. Brush the pizza crust with the butter, and sprinkle it evenly with the cinnamon sugar.

Bake the prepared pizza crust in a 500 degree F oven for 5 – 7 minutes, or until the crust is starting to brown on top. Remove the pizza from the oven, and spread the apple pie filling out evenly on top of it, leaving a standard, 1-inch crust around the edge. Bake the pizza for an additional 4 – 5 minutes. Remove the pizza from the oven, and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing it.

Cherry and White Chocolate Dessert Pizza

Popular throughout the year, this sweet dessert pizza will have your customers asking for seconds.

Ingredients:

  • 1 standard-sized ball of pizza dough (for a 12-inch pizza)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips

Directions:

Stretch the pizza dough out into a 12-inch circle, and place it on a pizza pan. Brush the crust with the melted butter, and then sprinkle it evenly with the white sugar. Bake the crust in a 500 degree F oven for 5 – 7 minutes. Remove the crust from the oven.

Spread the cherry pie filling out on the pizza crust, leading the standard, 1-inch crust around the edges. Bake the pie for an additional 4 – 5 minutes. Remove the pizza from the oven, and immediately sprinkle on the white chocolate chips. Let them sit for a few minutes until they appear to be beginning to melt, and then use a spatula to swirl the melted white chocolate around in the cherry filling. Slice the pizza, and send it on its way.

Consider offering single slices of these dessert pizzas, so customers who are buying food for just one or two people are not forced to order a whole pie.
